“Volunteerability” Work Placements at Eureka! Update

Posted on Mar 31, 2016

Back in November 2014 we took part in a pilot scheme run by Eureka! The National Children’s Museum to offer some of our Next Steppers work experience opportunities within the museum.

The project is called “Volunteerabilty” and it was so successful that we are very proud to report that we are still offering work placements at Eureka! which we now fund ourselves. Small groups of Next Steppers enjoy a six week period of work experience where they are regarded as team members and work directly alongside full time staff. Next Steppers have to undergo a full interview process exactly like everyone else who works at the museum.

We must say a massive thank you to all the staff and management at Eureka who have been exceptional throughout the course of the project which is set to continue running throughout 2016.

As a result of the success of the project, we have been included in an International e-Magazine “InterpNEWS – International Heritage Interpretation” which details the importance of accessibility to museums and collections for people with disabilities.  The e-Magazine was published in Jan/Feb 2016.
